Sewing Goals for 2010

I am not a great stat-keeper--okay, I really suck--but a quick general tally of my 2009 sewing goes something like this: 100 garments sewn (give or take), a *cough* couple hundred yards in. Thinking about what I'd like to accomplish this next year, I jotted down some GOALS (heck no, I'm not making any resolutions! Gah! That smacks of rules, and I hate rules!):

1. Buy less fabric.

2. USE UP fabric that I have. (Hello, I have tons!)

3. Stop buying SIMILAR patterns to ones I already have. I should not have 7+ envelope patterns for wrap dresses, not too mention the countless ones in my magazines. So wrong.

4. Expand my sewing skills by making the following garments for me:

-Jacket or coat
-Tailored skirt
-Tailored shirt

I'm so tired of being scared to do "for reals!" sewing because a) I am rusty, b) I'm scared to fit myself, and c) I'm too lazy/put-upon-for-time to make a muslin. Surely I can conquer these three garments this year.

5. Use more patterns from my Burda World of Fashion magazines (now BurdaStyle). I have soooo many that I've never even pulled the pattern sheet out of. Again, so wrong. Ditto on my Ottobre Woman magazines, I would like to use at least 1-2 patterns from each issue.

6. Learn to fit my broad shoulders.

7. Incorporate DD into her own wardrobe planning. Maybe we can get on the same train this year so she doesn't reject 50% of everything I make for her.

8. Sew more seasonal items ahead of time, e.g., sew for Spring/Summer before it's actually Spring/Summer.

9. RELAX. Stop beating myself up about stuff that I don't get sewn. Realize that at this point in my life with two toddlers and next to no sleep IT'S JUST HARD TO BE SUPER PRODUCTIVE. And that's okay. :)

10. Sew more things for my husband. He likes it. Then he is "nice." ;)

11. Cut back on my hobby/clothes spending so I can save up for:

-A clear foot for my coverstitch
-Binders & accessories for my coverstitch so I can make beautiful binding on knits
-YUDU screen printer
-Bias tape maker

Eleven goals, so sue me. We'll see how I do...
